Not all D1 teams are fully funded with 12.6 athletic scholarships. As you said, the 7 Ivys have 0 but schools like Bucknell also have 0 and some only have 2 3 for the whole team. There is no way that 57 D1 lacrosse teams offer athletic scholarships as was posted above by FOGO's Dad. I'm guessing the number of fully funded teams in D1 with 12.6 scholarships is in the 40s for the 60 total teams.

Again, this is way to general on my part but hopefully Nike Zoom Blue Red

Many players, FOGO's included, are offered more lacrosse scholarship money as their they improve and the financial situation of the team changes.

As stated above, UNC freshman FOGO got lacrosse scholarship money. I also know a Hopkins FOGO got lacrosse money also. The amount varies for each situation. I was told, at top schools, the lacrosse component averages between 1/8 to 1/4 scholarship for FOGO's. However, I know a top 25 team that gave a FOGO half.

If those 89 teams have 44 players each on them, and everyone gets an equal share (only in fantasy land), 3900 players each get .39 of a scholarship. If the average cost of tuition is $20,000 per year, thats $8k per year.

scholarship money. Is this the deal with every face off man in Johns Hopkins, North Carolina, and Virginia?

Remember, there are 57 division 1 and 32 division 2 colleges that offer lacrosse scholarships for men. That's a total of 1,009.26 full scholarships in the NCAA because of the amount of scholarships able to be awarded to students per team is allowed.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the amount of money face off specialist get from division 1 colleges. I think they are a very important aspect to a lacrosse team but the amount of money they are offered is confusing. Some of my friends that went to go play college lax as a face off man didnt get offered anything for the first year but as the years went by the coaches gave my friend a Nike Flywire Metcon 1

FOGOdad, you are fertile soil for a data geek like me! Extrapolating your data, we find that each high school graduating class has about 252 full scholarships to go around. Since there are a little over 3200 lacrosse teams nationwide with, say, 11 seniors on each, we have 35,200 kids eligible for those dollars. Those 252 scholarships are offered by the 89 DI and DII schools minus Nike Lebron 13 Elite Low the 7 Ivy League schools (which explicitly do not offer athletic scholarships so each of the remaining 82 schools has about 3 full rides to divide up among their 10 or 11 freshmen recruits.

Don't forget, athletic scholarships are only guaranteed for 1 year. Also, the coach can divide those 12.6 up any way he wants amoung his entire roster of about 44 players.

It is and remains very confusing and is hard money to get, regardless of position.

Please feel free to correct anything I may have misrepresented. I am basing this on my son's experience and discussions I have had with other families.

Again, this is way to general on my part but hopefully explains how complex this whole mess is and why it is hard to answer in specific terms.

It is confusing because players are offered a package. That package may have a lacrosse scholarship component to it but academics, grants and other aid can also be offered in the package. (this is for D1, D2)
